Healthy Acai Sorbet


Acai has a slightly bitter berry taste, but once sweetened, it becomes deliciously fruity in taste with almost a hint of chocolate (or nutty flavour)… It is known as one of the super-foods for its antioxidant properties. Acai Sorbet makes a perfect summer treat – ‘healthy’ and ‘refreshing’ is on the menu this summer.

Acai Sorbet


*You will need an ice cream maker for this recipe. If you do not have one, see instructions below.

4 packs of acai purée (3.5oz packs), room temp.

2/3 cup maple syrup

1 Tblsp lemon juice (1 lemon squeezed)

1 Tblsp berry fruit juice of choice (I used raspberry)



  1. Combine all ingredients together and mix until combined. Pour into an ice cream maker and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for sorbet.
  2. If you do not have an ice cream maker, pour the liquid into a flat pan and put in the freezer. Stir every hour. When the liquid becomes slushy, pour the liquid into a food processor (or use hand-mixer), and blend the liquid until light. Place into a container and store in the freezer until frozen.
