Healing Hydration

Dropping temperatures mean harsher environments for our delicate skin. Cold, jarring wind, dropping humidity levels, stale indoor air and other factors can all make for dry, itchy and irritable skin. The solution? Upping our moisture game and making sure our skin stays fresh, hydrated and deeply dewy during the entire season of colder weather. Here are our top 5 moisture-intense products. Make sure to exfoliate before using them to slough away dead skin cells and make way for healing hydration!

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Deep Moisture Balm

Don’t let the pudding-like consistency discourage you – Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Deep Moisture Balm is some seriously intense stuff. It takes just a small dollop of this thick cream to spread over a large area and some serious rubbing to get it to absorb. The paraben-free formula also contains Edelweiss flower extract to create a barrier of moisture even harsh air won’t be able to penetrate. It’s also fragrance free, so sensitive noses can use this easily for a facial moisturizer that lasts all day long.

Sephora Collection Intensive Instant Moisturizer

Another paraben-free moisturizer we’re loving is the Sephora Collection Intensive Instant Moisturizer. Sephora’s house brand is so underrated; they have tons of reasonably-priced items that are high quality and keep up with the trends. If you can’t wrap your head around dropping serious dough on a designer beauty product, the Sephora brand usually has a version that’s just as good. Their formula contains hyaluronic acid that supports your skin’s natural chemical balance and keeps skin seriously moisturized for 24 hours – oh and it’s noncomedogenic so it won’t clog pores!

Cetaphil Daily Advance Lotion

While Cetaphil is mainly known as the go-to moisturizer for those with acne-prone skin, they also carry effective products for those of us affected with dry skin. Their Daily Advance Lotion is a great everyday facial moisturizer. We love how no-nonsense it is: fragrance-free and a lightweight texture that doesn’t leave skin greasy in the slightest.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream

First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Cream has a cult following and with good reason; the cream is ideal for not only facial use, but from head to toe and works on all types of skin. So girls who only experience drier skin in the winter and normal/oily/combination skin the rest of the year – this one’s for you! Our favorite in texture of the bunch, this moisturizer is a light whipped texture but still packs a punch. With shea butter, ceramide and oatmeal in the formula, it soothes and almost doubles hydration on impact.

Pond’s Dry Skin Cream

Pond’s is kind of a drugstore myth and legend of a brand. You’ve likely heard about it from your mom or grandmother using it but never quite saw the hype yourself. It’s old school and certainly not trendy, but damn, does this stuff work. Their Dry Skin Cream is thick and creamy but doesn’t leave skin feeling weighed down. It absorbs quickly and is also hypoallergenic and non-pore-clogging. This cream has been around forever, and we totally get why.
